As part of its ongoing mission to scale innovation in Pakistan’s Med-Tech landscape, NovaTechX embarked on a strategic outreach trip across Lahore and Islamabad in April – May 2025. The primary goal was to strengthen the organization’s presence in Punjab by engaging key academic institutions and healthcare stakeholders for potential partnerships across its Quest and Accelerate programs, RFP development initiatives and collaborations.
This corridor trip successfully laid the foundation for NovaTechX’s expansion in Punjab and Islamabad, unlocking numerous avenues for academic delivery, clinical integration, RFP development, and ecosystem strengthening. Follow-up actions now include finalizing MOUs, initiating pilot cohorts, and deepening partnerships with clinical and regulatory stakeholders.

The academic engagements were extensive and productive. At the University of the Punjab, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to roll out Quest for engineering students, with additional discussions around deeper collaboration on product development. Similarly, UET Lahore expressed strong interest, particularly through their Khwarazmi incubation team, given their strength in embedded systems, ML Ops, and robotics—making them a prime partner for engineering solutions tied to medical RFPs. The University of Lahore, with its large student body and affiliated hospitals, showcased interest in Quest and trial engagements, especially through its Radiology Department.

Engagements at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) were especially promising. At KEMU, discussions with the VC, ORIC, and multiple HODs revealed urgent clinical needs and enthusiasm to integrate their medical professionals into NovaTechX’s Accelerate program. The institution’s access to Mayo Hospital and other large facilities makes it a strong candidate for RFP generation, trials, and SME support. Similarly, FJMU, already involved in clinical entrepreneurship, expressed interest in joining both Quest and Accelerate, and potentially supporting dashboard and backend development for monitoring projects.

Rawalpindi Medical University was evaluated for clinical trials and equipment validation. While not suitable for course delivery or SME roles, its network of affiliated hospitals presents value for practical validations. NUST leadership, including the Rector and SEECS faculty, appreciated the vision behind the programs and promised internal discussions. The Rector also requested technical input for his societal development initiative. Meanwhile, a visit to GIK Institute led to promising discussions with their leadership and lab teams, particularly around internships for students and faculty involvement in Accelerate.
On the industry front, Shifa Hospital stood out with a high degree of alignment. Their leadership immediately recognized the value of NovaTechX offerings and expressed willingness to engage in requirement gathering and RFP drafting. Similar interest was noted from associated hospitals of University of Lahore, KE, and FJMU, which collectively form a robust base for clinical trials, data collection, and subject matter expertise.

NASTP Islamabad
The trip also included ecosystem-level visits. At NSTP, startup tours and discussions with Ms. Humaira highlighted potential for student internships and partnerships. At NASTP, the CEO and Director Innovation welcomed NovaTechX with enthusiasm, hosting a session on the Accelerate program and connecting the team with promising startups including Alqalam. A separate visit to Teresol revealed opportunities in Smart City RFPs through their defense-grade technology expertise. NCAI, led by Dr. Yasar Ayaz, offered access to medical model datasets, setting the stage for a potential RFP partnership. Lastly, a high-level meeting with the CEO of DRAP confirmed their interest in building Pakistan’s medical devices ecosystem. NovaTechX is committed to supporting this vision.
